The Bible Line - November 12, 2013
Series:
Summary
Anna, Savannah - I am writing from across the river, Savannah, GA. I actually missed your show today, wasn't in my car at the time! I keep my radio tuned to 88.7 and appreciate the excellent teaching offered. I was told by my sister, who listened today, that you mentioned the problem of women teaching men. This is a tough issue and I had heard your wife discuss it on one of her programs last year. I believe that the Bible, as we have it today, is the inerrant word of sovereign God and that we should use it as our guide in life. The problem that you brought up of women teaching men is one that I would agree with you on, however, I do have a difficult time understanding how it is to be carried out in our public media driven society. When I heard your wife talking about it on the radio she particularly mentioned Kay Arthur, as I remember it. However, it did occur to me that, if what the Bible says about women not teaching men in the church (i.e. not being preachers) were to be taken as a mandate for all situations, then your wife, and any other women involved in Christian teaching, could not be allowed to teach on the radio, TV, internet or through published works (books, magazines, ebooks, etc.) because they would most assuredly have men included under their teaching in those situations. Where should we rightly draw the line on this? I do agree that we must be careful in this area and would appreciate your advice.
Has Pastor Broggi read Bill O'Reilly's book "Killing Jesus" and, if so, what is his opinion of it.
In 1 Samuel there are at least three verses that address an evil spirit that came upon Saul from the Lord. How can evil come from the Lord, in whom there is no evil?
Were there cigarettes in Noah's day?
Ginger, Beaufort - I sent a friend of mine your review of Sara Young's, Jesus calling, as she finds it very helpful as many of my Christian friends do. She asked "don't we also experience God through the presence of the Holy Spirit and through prayer as well as through Scripture?" I'd like your response.
Is it scriptural for a Christian single male to date a Christian young woman unaccompanied or should they be chaperoned?
A listener wants to know why CBC does not have a "singles" ministry.
Jack, Charleston, SC - Is Rick Warren of Saddleback church ok to listen to? I have heard that he has some teaching that we should stay away from.
Andrew, Beaufort, SC What does the Bible say about having tattoos? Are they wrong or is there nothing wrong with getting them? I have already read the Leviticus chapter that mentions them and it seems to me that this is one of the parts of the Old Law that Christians don't have to follow anymore, i.e. Animal sacrifices.
A listener is seeking some New Testament scripture he can share with someone about the sin of homosexuality.
