Faith, B., Crozet, VA - Jesus Christ as fully human and fully divine (i.e., the hypostatic union) is a key doctrine for us as Christians, but I recently ran into a problem with my Christology when thinking about Jesus’ work on the cross. In Matthew 27:46, Jesus cries out to the Father, “my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” I’ve always understood this as Jesus and God being separated at this moment when Jesus hung on the cross. God cannot be around sin, but He saw the sin of humanity hanging on Jesus and therefore had to remove Himself from the Son. Upon thinking about that more deeply, I realized there might be a hole in my theology. Wouldn’t saying that God forsakes Jesus on the cross mean that Jesus loses His divinity in that moment?

Linda, Enon, OH - Thank you for praying for my son's healing. However, at age 33 he was called home to be with the Lord. Since then I've struggled to find a local Bible-based, rather than a "woke" church. Last December I thought I finally found one. Recently I learned that right before I found this church a woman whom they called an associate/assistant pastor had passed away. When I asked how they reconciled her being a pastor with 1Timothy 2, the subject was changed. The senior pastor's sermons are excellent and fully Bible-based. He has not made any deviation from God's Word since I've attended. Does his having accepted a female pastor indicate false teaching? Should I keep looking? Thank you. I listen to your sermons every week. You are a real blessing.
