Summary

Lisa, Rincon, GA - We are looking for a book that you would recommend for a family that has been deeply hurt by their church. We officially had a messy exit in December over a matter that grew worse and more hurtful over a period of nine months. We kept reaching out to the youth leadership, then a senior elder who had no advice, then the new young inexperienced pastor who made matters worse and finally getting more and more hurt and exasperated, we had to leave in December. It became so messy that when all said and done, the elders (only two left in this dying church since we arrived) and the new pastor said too messy to deal with and lies. name calling and misjudgment was flying everywhere. My daughter was called a gossip for reaching out for help to a woman in youth leadership, and later I the same for reaching out to an elder's wife for "revealing church secrets." for help. In the end, they do not want the youth leadership nor themselves to be accountable and we left with the new pastor calling members to tell them about our departure--not sure how that handled but basically, we are cut off from the friendships and families we have come to love and are hurting a lot. We are a homeschool family who moved here from the SW Virginia area and the church was our family. Do you have any book or sermons to recommend to us? Also, if you have any counseling to offer; we welcome it, especially because this involved our college-age daughter who loves the Lord, was mentoring young girls, serving as a youth leader assistant, musician/vocalist on praise team (lead by youth pastor) and substituting and assisting in middle Sunday School class. We have been blessed by STS since we have moved here seven years ago and have supported the interest of a church plant in the Hardeeville/Port Wentworth/Pooler area. Thanks for being a light--even more needed in the Christian community! May God continue to bless STS and the churches you and your ministry team lead!

What is the difference between commandments, ordinances, and statutes as seen, for example, in Nehemiah 1:7.

A caller would like to know what Pastor Broggi's advice would be for the following situation.  A couple was living together (they both say they're Christians) and then they broke up.  Now they are wanting to date (not live together though).  What would Pastor Broggi tell them?

In Hebrews 6:4-6 how does this passage address "once saved always saved."  This seems to be saying you can lose your salvation.

Manny, Providence, RI - My wife has filed for divorce and has left our home. I know God's will for my marriage is to avoid divorce. As I have drawn near to God, He has shown me that I loved her more than Him. I want to honor God's will but how do I balance giving God my heart and grieving my lost wife?

Bonnie, Bluffton, SC - Two questions: 1. Why did God tell Moses to tell Pharaoh (Ex. 3:18) to let His people go 3 days into the wilderness to sacrifice to Him? God’s ultimate intention was to free Israel, not to have them return to Egypt, but the phrasing makes it sound as if the request is for the people to take a short journey, then return. 2. In Ex. 9:3, God tells of the plague on the cattle in the field, on the horses, donkeys, camels, oxen, and sheep. Verse 6: “all the livestock of Egypt died.” (Okay, all are now dead.) Verse 9: “And it will become fine dust in all the land of Egypt, and it will cause boils that break out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt. • Question: What beasts? Verse 6 says they are all dead. The following verses seem to contradict the fact that all the livestock is already dead. Verse 18-19: “Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause very heavy hail to rain down… Therefore send now and gather your livestock and all you have in the field…every man and every animal which is found in the field and is not brought home; and they shall die.” • Question: Aren’t all the animals in the field already dead? Verse 29: And it came to pass at midnight that the LORD struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of livestock.” • Question: Doesn’t this imply multiple “families” of livestock in order to distinguish firstborn from others born later? I’ve pondered these questions for a number of years. Thank you in advance for your answer!
