The Bible Line - August 10, 2021
Series:
Summary
Michelle Z. - I am looking to learn more about Christians and the businesses and organizations we support with our finances. I thought of Pastor Carl and would like to inquire which resources he may have or suggest regarding Christians shopping at companies like Amazon, Starbucks, Target or Disney for example. While those are more obvious examples, what about the less obvious like groceries and daily needs for living, etc. This has become a popular topic of conversation around me recently and I am simply wanting to learn more from a trusted Biblical perspective. If Pastor Carl has a sermon series or other resources or recommendations on this subject, could you please direct me to them?
Frederick, Bangor ME - Are you familiar with the Christian group HaYovel and what are your thoughts?
Jeff D., Phoenix, AZ - I have on several occasions spoken to my “teaching” or senior pastor about errors in his slide presentations. Many times he has quoted Revelation(s) instead of Revelation. He also has now quoted Number, Thessalonian, Ephesian and similar errors in plurality in his presentations. I am also troubled that this has not been corrected or addressed by the Church Elders or other Pastors. May I get some advice on how or who to address this with? My discussions are either ignored or thought not to matter to my “teaching” pastor.
Robert H., Okatie, SC - Can you tell me about the New Calvinists and why Amillenialism seems to be taking hold in the evangelical church?
Stacy O. - Will babies and young children be taken to Heaven at the rapture?
Quentin, Beaufort, SC - As a new christian I am having trouble with how to spend my recreation time. Being a father to young kids and maintaining a marriage my free time is limited. I try and use my free time to read and study my Bible. I have spent a lot of my adult life playing video games, watching movies, and reading (mostly fantasy book). As a christian some things are easy to understand they have to go. But I am no longer sure how to spend my recreation time. Sometimes I feel guilty if I watch a movie at night, or reading a book because I am not reading my Bible. I try and read my Bible in the mornings, and durning my kids naps, and at night, but sometimes want to spend that time doing other things. I guess the question is really, how do I spend my free time and if I watch a movie with my wife or read a book am I doing something wrong. And a second question as a pastor, do you think it is a bad thing to read fantasy genre books?
