Mothering From The Heart - September 17, 2014

Series:

Summary

You made a huge impact on me during my college yrs and have continued to be an incredible mentor to me over the yrs through your online resources. My question is...I have a godly older women in my life who teaches and mentors many younger in our community. She has done a wonderful job pouring her life out to women. However she will be teaching a series on the attributes of God which she normally teaches to women but is offering a condensed version of it for the month of July. She opened it up to men and women. I'm extremely uncomfortable with this because she will be teaching this to men. I can't seem to find a good way to explain this is unbiblical? And how do I broach the subject being respectful? I've also wondered how do you appropriately teach a subject on the attributes of God to women differently than a man would? Thx you for all you've done in yours yrs of ministry. I can't begin to explain the impact you've had on my life.
2.  Audrey,
I am enjoying hosting the Mothering from the Heart Bible study in my home. We just listened to part two of God's Heart for Children. In it you mention three books that I'd like to look for, but I am not sure of the titles and authors: Dogger, Children of the Bible, and one by John McArthur. Will you send me the correct titles and authors? Thank you for taking the time to care about us and for being our Titus 2 teacher.
3.  Audrey,
This is kind of personal and awkward but I figure ya'll have been through these conversations and would have some advice or references…We have some boys… We've talked about purity and things but not in depth at all on that subject. Do ya'll have any recommendations as to books or resources to help in this area? How much should they know? Should it just be generic discussions and they figure out the details later? I'm not necessarily talking just about the scientific aspect, but of the physical actions required.
My husband will soon be the senior pastor at a church.  When I was the assistant pastor's wife I never felt intimidated or worried about what I didn't know, etc. I guess because maybe I didn't have the full weight of responsibility on my shoulders because my husband was the assistant and not the senior pastor. However, thinking about being the Senior pastor's wife scares me a little bit. I have felt called to be a minister's wife since I was in junior high school. Really, I knew I would marry a pastor and I did. I have never been intimidated by this calling until now. I guess what I worry about is I feel like I lack some Bible knowledge and I lack in the area of scripture memory. I went to private christian school and a private christian college as well - so I feel like I have much more Bible knowledge than maybe the average person, but all of the sudden I feel like I really need to work on that!
One of the things that has been so meaningful to me over the years as you have mentored me (through listening to you) is  how there is always scripture just flowing effortlessly from your mouth. At times, it has truly moved me to tears. And your Bible knowledge!
·      I guess my question is, how would you suggest someone that is about to be a senior pastor's wife prepare herself to serve the church?
·       How have you memorized so much scripture over the years. Do you have memorization plan? For example, how do you decide what to memorize? How have you learned so much of the Bible? I read through the Bible every year, but many times I can't remember where a certain story comes from. But I'm not sure how to just gain more basic Bible knowledge.
·      I have one more question. how were you able to balance the demands of running your home, homeschooling, training your children with serving the church? I feel like that might be much more of a challenge this time around.
